poem: the measure of a man

The measure of a man
is not the ability to do no wrong
but to wholeheartedly
own
and embrace
your failure.
But do not languish in self-pity or self loathing,
for what good are they?
They will take all this is
good,
noble,
and honourable
strangling you into paralysis.
No, this is is what this world needs –
more men caught in cycles of
Indifference and victimhood.
No, stand up.
Dust off your jacket and stand tall.
It is not your failures that define you
but how you rise when you fall.
